2019 Toyota Avalon: First Impressions — Cars.com

now last year Toyota gave a major
redesign to its midsize sedan the Camry and this year it’s it’s big brother’s
turn now the 2019 Avalon’s redesign means it gets brand new exterior styling
and I believe that it’s changed for the better now the old Avalon had this weird
two-tiered grille opening it had a thin upper grille and a wide lower air intake
now Toyota’s solution to this was let’s combine them into one slightly less
awkward air intake that you can see here now this is an X se this has the same
grille as the Touring model those are the two sporty model to the Avalon the
limited and xle come with a slightly more understated grille as much as we
like the changes on the exterior for me the changes inside are even more
exciting and it starts with this new center console and dashboard design now
I must prefer to look at this to what they did with the camry this is a bit
more simple and a bit more elegant which fits this car better now up top here we
have a brand new 9 inch touchscreen and that powers a multimedia system which
also sees big changes for 2019 now Toyota has been behind the game on
smartphone connectivity for some time but they appear to be catching up with
the addition of standard apple carplay across all trim levels now that does
leave Android users like me in the lurch but hopefully not for much longer
now the 2019 Avalon is also longer and wider than its predecessor and that pays
dividends in the backseat yeah it had a large backseat before and it is larger
still the Avalon is technically a midsize as Toyota but it feels more like
a full-size to me I have a ton of legroom and Headroom back here it’s one
of the few back seats where I could sit in for hours and be comfortable the 2019
Avalon will be offered in both gas and hybrid versions now the hybrid versions
have actually moved the batteries from the trunk to underneath the rear seats
to open up a little bit more cargo room we don’t yet have details on pricing or
fuel economy but those should come closer to the Avalon’s launch Dayton’s
for late spring of 2018 you
