2019 Hyundai Veloster: Sporty, Stylish and Still a Bit Weird – Cars.com

the second-generation the Hyundai
Veloster remains a funky three-door hatchback with Hyundai’s looking to give
it more of a performance cred with turbocharged versions that culminate in
this the 275 horsepower all-new Veloster end if styling seems similar to the
outgoing Veloster complete with a low six sided grille that spread across the
front it’s really what’s underneath it all that counts under the hood of this
Veloster and here we’ve got a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine not to
be confused with the 2-liter non turbo 4-cylinder on the regular velocity or
the 1.6 liter turbo in the Veloster Turbo the end here has 250 horsepower
260 pounds feet of torque in kind of its normal iteration you can get a
performance package which is retuned for 275 horsepower Hyundai says it drives
the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission only and it goes
through a torque vectoring limited-slip front differential now the other big
news across all velocities is an independent rear suspension versus the
torsion beam rear suspension on the prior generation Veloster and by the way
power on the lesser cars 147 horsepower in the base two liter version 201
horsepower in the 1.6 liter turbo you get around to the side here overall
dimensions haven’t really changed that much with the Veloster and you know what
made this car really kind of stand out was that it had this sort of trick third
door here on the passenger’s side only that moves the b-pillar a little bit
forward than where it is on the driver’s side which is just one door there
there’s no rear door the inside cabin materials are fairly basic but there’s a
lot of technology here a seven-inch screen just kind of sits
above the center part of the dashboard there it perch’s there like a tablet an
8 inch unit is optional as is apple carplay and android auto other big news
automatic emergency braking forward collision warning will be standard on
lesser velocities when this car goes on sale in the middle of 2018 the Veloster
end won’t get those features those safety features but it’s going to be a
high performance car we’re excited to drive it closer to its on sale date near
the end of the year you
